Silence at Work
"Silence at Work" was a new adventure in art for
Kennedy van der Laan.
"Silence at Work" was the first in a series of art
projects in which the central theme is the experimental nature of
art. This and future projects complement the permanent art
collection of Kennedy Van der Laan, which consists of paintings,
drawings and sculptures by innovative contemporary Dutch
artists.
The ground-floor entry hall of Kennedy Van der Laan served as a
"laboratory" for Silence at Work. The artist, Nathalie
Bruys, was given free rein to create a constantly changing and
developing art project over of period of several months consisting
of sound, photography, wall painting, music, falcons, etc.
The dynamic approach of the 'laboratory' certainly
brought forth a different sort of reaction from the
viewer/participant than works from the permanent collection.
Silence at Work was an art project that was never complete in
itself, but rather changed constantly in an interaction between the
artist and Kennedy Van der Laan employees.
