Kennedy Van der Laan has strengthened its Real Estate and Administrative Law group with the arrival of Liesbeth Berkouwer. On 1 February 2011 Berkouwer (39) will join the Amsterdam firm of attorneys and civil law notaries as an associate partner.
Kennedy Van der Laan Strengthens Employment Law Group with Two New Partners
On 1 January 2011, Kennedy Van der Laan appointed Eva Knipschild and Inge de Laat as partners. The two attorneys work in the Employment Law group. Their appointment gives Knipschild and De Laat (both from 1977) the privilege of being the youngest partners in the Amsterdam law firm.
Kennedy Van der Laan to focus on expansion of notary services after Jan Schouten sworn in
Kennedy Van der Laan will continue to expand its notary services now that partner Jan Schouten has been sworn in as a notary. Schouten has been associated with Kennedy Van der Laan since 2006 as a civil-law notary awaiting Crown appointment and he was named a partner in the firm early this year. He was recently sworn in as a civil-law notary.
Coen Drion appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands
Coen Drion, partner and co-founder of Kennedy Van der Laan, has been appointed justice of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands. "We regret that he is leaving our firm, but at the same time we are very proud that a partner of Kennedy Van der Laan has been appointed justice of the Supreme Court", says Joost Linnemann, managing partner of Kennedy Van der Laan.

Kennedy Van der Laan has been proclaimed the most innovative law firm of the Netherlands on 26 March 2010, during the annual award of the Golden Hourglasses, the award for lawyers and law firms.

On 10 March 2010 Sophie van Loon, attorney with the Intellectual Property and Media Law group of Kennedy Van der Laan, won the VIE award for her publication "Refusal to License as Abuse of a Dominant Position".

The Marian Kennedy Fellowship of this year goes to Peninah Nthenya of Safe Spaces in Kenya. As a fellow Peninah receives a grant of €15,000.
