New Threshold Values for Public Contracts
When the value of a contract exceeds the threshold amounts
determined in the public procurement Directives, tenders for a
public contract must be invited on a European level. These
threshold values are determined once again every two years.
Recently, the European Commission has published the new threshold
values for the next two years, namely as of 1 January 2010 through
31 December 2011 (EC Regulation 1177/2009 dated 30 November 2009,
Official Journal of the European Communities 1 December 2009, L
314/64, ). Just like in previous years, a downward adjustment of
the amounts is visible. The threshold values have been decreased by
approximately 6%.
The new threshold values are reflected in the
enclosed table.
Please note: a public contract with a realistically estimated
market value under the determined European threshold values is not
excluded from the applicability of European procurement Directives
just like that. In the next newsletter of February 2010 we will
further discuss the issue of "inviting tenders for a contract
below the threshold values".
