Reindert van der Zaal
Reindert van der Zaal studied law at Leiden University and at
the Uppsala University in Sweden. After corporate law studies, he
specialized in intellectual property and media law, and joined
Kennedy Van der Laan.
His practice covers all aspects of media-, intellectual
property- advertising law, with a focus on freedom of speech
(defamation) and trademark cases. Amongst others, he acts on behalf
of film producers, artists, designers, internet providers and
various media, including leading newspapers and blogs. Furthermore,
Reindert is specialized in advising and litigating in illegal
parallel- and counterfeit cases, including for major international
sports and clothing brands.
Reindert is member of the Netherlands Association for Media and
Communication Law (VMC) and the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC).
As editor-in-chief of media law blog
MediaReport, he frequently publishes about
legal news for the media. He also publishes in different specialist
journals.
Reindert is part of Kennedy Van der Laan’s ‘ Bureau Français’
(French Desk) and supervisory board member of
the Art Lending Foundation SBK Amsterdam.
In his spare time Reindert plays soccer and actively practices
water and winter sports. He also likes cooking, art and travelling.
