Who's Who Legal 2008

In the Netherlands, independent firm Kennedy Van der Laan, based in Amsterdam, is considered 'one of the country's first internet law firms'. It is known for projects such as a Dutch public transport chip-card project, and a global banking digital signature project to identify parties in B2B transactions, as well as assisting in model ISP agreements for a Dutch television company.

Internet and e-commerce

Kennedy Van der Laan started practicing Internet and ecommerce law in the Netherlands before other law firms knew it existed. We have seen this practice change from one of creatively applying "brick and mortar" legal concepts to the on-line world to one of anticipating and pro-actively advising our clients on legislation and regulations affecting use of the Internet and ecommerce. Our job is to help our clients comply with this body of law in a way that is consistent with their business goals and structures.

Internet and ecommerce have also enhanced the need for law firms and attorneys who can think and operate internationally. Kennedy Van der Laan often advises clients in Internet, ecommerce and IT projects throughout the European Union, partly relying on long-term relationships with IT attorneys throughout the EU.

Our Internet and ecommerce practice is, of course, part of our strong IT practice and relies on our personal data privacy expertise and experience.
